Morning Business - Thursday
I would have picked up these glossies much sooner
had the headlines read:
KIM SCURVY ALERT!
Kim Kardashian urged to eat oranges for vitamin C
(instead of using them as a guide for fake tan).
POSH'S DRAMA COLLAR
Victoria Beckham in talks to takeover
as major shareholder
of doggie fashion web store
Posh Pawz.
That would be more than enough news
to get us through the thick and the thin of it! x
Morning Business - Wednesday
STRIPES!
STRIPES!
STRIPES!
(Anything to get the attention away
from JLo on the cover of Marie Claire.
Bit of a lame issue...
Is it just me,
or have they added JLo's head
into some luscious locks?
And changed the mag name
to something a bit Irish-ish?
Mari Ire, anyone??)
{Google searched 'Mari Ire',
and the top response was
this:
JLo For President!!!}

All ready for a girl's own adventure
into a jam-packed Monday edition of Cindy Loves This.
I have my 'A Room Of One's Own' Penguin notebook
to jot down this week's must do's.
Enough trail bars and corn chips to
through until tea time.
And Grazia - I simply must catch up on all
the important glam news and reviews.
And a child-like sense of wonder about what this week will bring...

ART CLASS WEEK DRAWS TO CLOSE
The blog Cindy Loves This enrolled in Art Class this week, allowing it's
author the chance to experiment with style, colour and theme.
By all accounts, Cindy had fun. Drawing her inspiration from the likes of
pop art and the classical still life (see: featured fruits), Cindy was again
able to fill her morning and afternoon routines with insightful quips,
colourful foods and her staple - magazines.
We can only wait with baited breath for what will surely be more exciting,
well, fruits. This is, after all, a labour of love. x

Morning Business - Thursday
Art class certainly is fruit-ful!
More international summer goddesses and goodness
comes at us this Thursday
from a 'bright and beautiful' Vogue UK.
And what of the local winter weather?
Bananas are still ripe.
A light scarf and cardigan in the morning.
Brisbane girls only dream of the layering
their satorial sisters get to artfully arrange on Melbourne streets.
And we're in the middle of winter!?!
Love in a temperate climate for all. x

Morning Business - Wednesday

A pumpin' hump day in technicolour.
Which makes me think about how you see your days.
Is it through rose coloured glasses?
Through a keen artist's eye?
Black and white and
newspaper-style?
Frank Sinatra is quoted as saying, "Orange is the happiest colour"...
...and these guys seem pretty pleased with themselves.
But whatever colour your 'orange' may be...
...you can always eat it. x

Morning Business - Tuesday
Now that is the way to begin a day!
(Smiles, not smiley face biscuts. Oh. Wait...)
Art class continues on a more spiritual level today.
Focusing in on and bringing light to the sometimes
dark corners of the working day/week/life.
And Shop Til You Drop has given us a whole issue to smile about!
Get your post-it's ready to bookmark your joy.
As we are all currently in some sort of global financial 'situation',
I suggest you get your bookmarking done,
and then treat yourself to a treasure hunt.
Rifle through your life -
what you already own, love, loathe and feel 'meh' about.
You can 'shop' your own gorgeous stuff back to life.
Spiritual Art Class is in overdrive -
loving what you already own in a new way
can bring you the shopping thrill,
without the bill.
Thrifty and nifty. x

Cindy Loves This visits art class this week!
Pretty posts for everyone!
And with the northern hemisphere summer
creeping into each day via international magazines,
today's post has a bit of a 'Hawaiian sunset' feel.
(Kylie Minogue lounging in the hammock
is the icing on the upside down pineapple cake!)
{Does an upside down pineapple cake have icing????}
Mmmmm...cake....
And for those of us on a liquid diet....

Let them eat cake!!!!! x

WHO-DAY!!!!!!!!!!!
This week draws to a close with a small thud.
Where is the fashion?
Where is the colour?
Where is the love?
I am choosing not to hold my breath.
In general.
More specifically, during my morning yoga.
Deep inhales.
Long exhales.
Try it sometime today.
Your body and mind will thank you.
Enjoy the weekend like you have a giant lotus flower above your bed.
Namaste. x

All the food groups covered today:
Fruit
Veg
Dairy
Grains
Meat
Cookie
And K-Stew
(sounds like a breakfast casserole to me...)
covering ELLE US.
Was
to see the latest Twilight last night.
And saw the trailer for The Runaways too.
Damn that girl is everywhere.
Twee Twilight Twivia:
Kristen Stewart was introduced to Vegemite (an Australian spread)
by her Maroochydore-born mum,
and names Noosa Heads (a Queensland resort town)
as one of her favorite places on the planet.
Her Australian heritage also inspired the name of her dog,
a border collie named Oz.
That's enough to call her "our" breakfast casserole. x

Morning Business - Wednesday
Beautiful Wednesday.
The half way gateway to the weekend.
The seesaw of the weekdays,
where things can always get brighter.
And a shiny Australian Vogue to top it off!
GLOSSY CHALLENGE TIME:
After the Crisis- The shift to thrift -
Most of us mere mortals have been onto this for a while.
And, while it is not a new choice for most of us,
it seems to be bridging the gap between more
accessible hi-lo fashion styles and looks.
On that note, I could do with a local The Gap store.....
Cameron Diaz - on sex, money and kids -
(whilst I covert her Balmain cover jacket)
I believe she speaks for a lot of the 30-somethings.
Sex? Money? Kids? Yes, please.
Shop Like A Stylist -
Whether you are a minimalist, a fashion magpie,
or a slave to trends, I believe you should always
shop like your own stylist.
Find what works for you.
Me?
Black, Breton stripes, leopard print, Red, Navy.
Chic.
And modest.
(That's what they tell me...hehehe)
Ticket to Ride- Travelling on your own -
As a (hopefully) soon-to-be international jet setter,
this appeals in spades.
If you're going that far away from home,
have places, things, and sights you want to see.
And if travelling with a buddy?
You'll get to have twice the good memories.
New Season Hot Looks- from texture to tailoring -
Sounds like a winner.
All grown up with somewhere to go.
Smart, yet putting your own twist into the mix.
Get out into the world.
Dress (well) for you.
Own your 'stealth-wealth' status.
What's not to love? x

It's the middle of winter,
but Vogue US offers us some summer sizzle to keep us warm!
The winter around my middle is also in need of some sizzle...
Enter,
drum roll please...
the ham and cheese salad.
Giving up the bread
(but not the cookies)
is testing the waters.
A toe in the ocean of
better habits
for a better bod.

Facebook says so. x

Thursday is for Emergency!!

Ugg Boots are a fashion hazard.
To most of us, this is a given.
While strictly used indoors, at home,
in only the very cold months,
mine managed to trip me up today.
Tripped me up a flight - FANTASTIC!
And so my ugg boots also became a health hazard!
And so a trip to the emergency room ensued.
Cue : Cute Doctor (Well spotted, Lady)
Enter : Rough X-Ray guy
Exit : With a chipped bone in my left big toe,
and a bill to boot!
Convalescing in style is now the major priority.
Time to put my foot up. Relax. c
Morning Business - Wednesday
Hiding behind the popette on the PINK cover
(still loving the yellow),
this month Team Cleo have given us
a delightful mix of sex, love, and frock'n'roll.
With the average age of the Cleo reader estimated (by me)
to be approx 20 years old,
I feel proud that I can lean on my years of
readership experience and cutting editorial eye
and still enjoy reading this issue practically cover-to-cover.
In about 20 mins.
This is not a read worth saving for an indulgent afternoon,
a la Carrie Bradshaw with her Australian Vogue.
But with an article that inspires this (sometimes) jaded reader
with it's 20 THINGS EVERY GIRL SHOULD TRY ONCE,
should be given a look in.
Every once in a while. x

And back-to-school-week draws to a close.
A double lesson in celeb studies - should be a breeze!
Delving into the pink header font,
asking the question, 'Is Brangalina going to make it?',
and working out which trash mag is more my style...
All in the name of science (class), of course.
A brief assessment of the glossy report cards:
Top marks by starting the week feeling Famous.
Smart also to start a new week with that New Weekly feeling.
Famous is first when it comes to...
NW gets points for...
Who are we kidding?
Paying good money for colourful fish n chip wrapping.
Maybe it's not (rocket) science after all.
Here endeth the lesson. School's out. x
